LOCATION

Located 60 minutes south-west of Medellin, in a peaceful valley with expansive views of Colombia’s mountainous terrain, La Amalia, Colombia’s most prestigious nature retreat, boasts a privileged position in the heart of the Colombian Andes.

Perched at an altitude of 1,600 m, the farm’s historic installations and coffee fields are nestled in a picturesque spot that’s blessed with a perfect all-year-round climate ideal for agriculture and tourism. Temperatures on the property range from 30 °C during the hottest part of the day to a low of 16 °C at night.

This fertile corner of Colombia was a strategic staging post for some of Colombia’s most important coffee farms. Located on the outskirts of Venecia, Antioquia, a small town with less than 15,000 inhabitants, La Amalia belongs to a strong cluster of coffee growers found in this fruitful valley.

The lush, verdant vegetation and biodiversity found in the forests and woodlands offers an oasis of calm for a stunning range of birds, butterflies as well as other wild and domesticated animals.

There’s little that can’t grow in one of Colombia’s most fruitful regions. As well as La Amalia’s special brand of Arabica coffee and the natural spring water, the farm produces organic tangerines, bananas, cacao, tomatoes and maize, as well as free range eggs and grass-fed beef for consumption at La Amalia’s farm-to-table restaurant.

A creek and waterfalls can be found on the property and La Amalia’s crystal clear aquifer has been welled to create natural lakes that enhance the farm’s natural charms.

La Amalia’s backdrop is a lush, emerald-green canopy of trees that hug the steep incline of the farm. It’s possible to hike through the thick forests on foot or horseback.

A digital m-app of La Amalia’s geography, flora and fauna will be available to help visitors explore the farm’s expansive territory with ease.
