Tree Houses

Low-impact tree houses nestled into La Amalia’s natural canopy will put visitors even closer in touch with nature with elevated glamping hideouts for between one and four people. There will be up to 24 of these fun, high-end nests, offering bird watchers and nature loving guests a unique chance to immerse themselves in their surrounds. All of the property’s desirable overnight hides are sensitive to La Amalia’s special surrounds, perfect for lovers looking for a romantic escape or adventurous families that want to experience the Colombian countryside.

Wellness

The property’s privileged aquifer and underground water reserves will feed La Amalia’s luxury swim club, spa, and natural lake and white sand beach, distinguishing the Club as a prestigious destination for hydrotherapeutic-themed rest and recuperation. An international operator will be brought in to convert La Amalia’s aquatic riches into resort quality facilities. Amenities will include an Olympic-sized pool, Turkish- style Hamam, Jacuzzis, refreshing waterfalls and a natural lake with a developed beach, The Club’s Wellness Center will offer wellness options from yoga and fitness to meditation and integrated wellness. The Wellness Center will include 4-6 treatment rooms for Ayurvedic and Swedish massages and a Yoga studio.

La Amalia will host regular retreats led by world-class yogis and instructors. Adventurous explorers looking to hike or ride horses through Colombia’s picture postcard scenery can discover and explore the historic trails once used by Amalia Madriñan to distribute coffee to Europe. Each of La Amalia’s rocks, rivers, creeks, waterfalls, fields, trees and lakes will be mapped along with the flora and fauna that inhabit the region; A special map of La Amalia’s flora and fauna
will be available for visitors interested in touring the property and experiencing the natural surroundings.

Swim Club & Spa

The property’s privileged aquifer and underground water reserves will feed La Amalia’s luxury swim club, spa, natural lake and white sand beach, especially created for sun worshipers – make this a prestigious place for hydrotherapeutic-themed rest and recuperation. An international operator will be brought in to convert La Amalia’s aquatic riches into a paradise for pampering. An Olympic-sized pool, Turkish-style Hamam, hot tubs, Jacuzzis, refreshing waterfalls and a
natural lake with its own beach, are among the myriad H20ptions at La Amalia. There will be 4-6 treatment rooms for Ayurvedic and Swedish massages and for those that want to work on their yoga practise there’s limitless places to re-charge the body’s batteries and soak up the world’s best climate. It’s summer all-year-round in La Amalia.

Lake Club

At the centre of La Amalia’s holistic re-birth are the bamboo structures of Simon Velez. His particular brand of vegetarian architecture will bind the project together. Velez’ organic architectural interventions weave naturally through La Amalia’s eco-system, providing Zen walkways between two lakes, a waterfall and the bamboo deck and a beach bar that will be planted in La Amalia’s natural habitat.

Coffee Heritage Center

La Amalia’s bamboo centrepiece will be a 250 sq m temple to Colombian coffee and La Amalia’s heritage. A museum dedicated to the holy brew, the La Amalia Coffee Heritage Center, will offer a full immersion into Colombian coffee culture, including the growing, roasting and preparation of the perfect cup of Joe. Art Gallery  & Artists Residence

Colombia’s creativity will sit in perfect harmony with nature at La Amalia. The retreat’s gallery space will include installations and rotating exhibitions by some of Colombia’s established and up-and-coming artists and there will be site specific installations by the likes of Mateo Lopez, Hugo Zapata, Susana Mejia as well as a regular artist residence for Jose Roca’s nature-inspired gallery, Flora ars+natura.

An Un-Conventional Center

Its unique qualities make La Amalia a remarkable place for inspired meetings. A totally unconventional convention center, will be buried into the mountain to provide a sui generis destination for meetings, incentives, conferences and events. This isn’t your typical events space, this is a special place for people that want to think outside the box in a creative environment that will inspire colleagues, customers, clients and followers alike.

La Amalia’s Global Gathering Center will have the capacity to host meetings of up to 200 people.
